Host
A host is any device that provides "client-server" format services in conditions of a server. In a particular case a host may be understood as any computer, server or router connected to a local or global network.
The word "host" by itself doesn't carry any information about a device structure or functioning. The usage of this word is appropriate only with an explanation that tells what type of service the device is going to be a host of. Nevertheless, often services ignore this requirement because they think it is obvious from the context.
A terminal connected to Internet may also be called a host. The hosts may be of different type - computers, web TV, domestic devices or a thin client. A host is defined in this way because it uses applications that either clients (for example browsers, mail clients) or servers. The same host may act contemporarily from a client and from a server, in particular with peer to peer applications. Terminals are connected through communication links.
A web host is a company or an individual who offers web space and sometimes a domain name.
